With the help of X-Ray or IITV and stimulation, nerve is localized by electrode (needle) the patient is given anaesthesia for 5 to 10 minutes, nerve is lesioned by Radio Frequency Lesion Generator machine (RFLG).
Since 2001 we are doing RF Operations for trigeminal Neuralgia. More than 430 (upto 2014) patients had been operated succesfully. Cure rate/ success rate is 98%. Immediate relief of pain occours in most of the cases.Medicines for trigeminal pain are tappered & stopped in 12 days. Although pain relief lasts for minimum 3-5 years in 90% of cases. Recurrence rate is 30%. 70- 80% are pain free for 7-8 years. More than 10% of patients who are pain free for 10 years may remain pain free throughout their life. On recurrence of pain, medicines may be started again. If require RF Operations can be repeated. RF Operation may be repeated any number of time. Main advantage is, it is a minimally invasive procedure, with hospital stay of 6 hours, no risk, no major complication, very safe & very effective & less than 1/3 to 1/4 cost of major operation. Brain & Spine Hospital led by Dr. Vijay R. Sheth is very experienced Trigeminal Neuralgia Surgeon in Pune, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
